Is your Data Warehouse Ready to Support Operational Business Intelligence?
Led by: Barry Devlin, Founder and Principal, 9sight Consulting

Date: Friday 11th September
Registration: 08:00
Start: 08.45
Close: 13:00
Venue: Vodaworld, Midrand

About the workshop
If you already have a Data Warehouse up and running you may think you’re ready for operational BI. Not necessarily! Or maybe you’re new to BI and can see immediate business benefits from this new and exciting concept, without having to bother with some of that old data warehousing stuff. Think again!

Many of the classical precepts of data warehousing are highly relevant to operational BI. Equally, just as many require careful thought and reinterpretation in this new world. To take a single example, consider the response time requirements for decision-making of a typical business analyst versus those of a customer service rep. There’s an order of magnitude difference, and that has major implications for system design and implementation.

In this half-day workshop, we explore in depth the architectural, technological and organisational issues you may encounter as you first get started with Operational BI and how to move forward with implementing operational BI in a rapidly changing IT environment. Topics include:

Operational BI—what’s different from traditional Data Warehousing?
Moving from data requirements to process needs
Architecture and technology options and implications of SOA
Organisation and roll-out considerations
A sample scenario—with health warnings!
