| Cameron Diaz's on-screen presence is extremely powerful. She is a fine-looking woman with a brilliant smile that lights up the screen and has a similar impact on male hearts. |

This is a good thing because for much of the time this powerful impact masks what is really a silly movie, although it is a lot of fun. It is the story of three women living in the city, single and proud. They don't want to get hurt so they make sure they have lots of fun with men but without getting emotionally attached. Sound familiar? It's usually the guy's attitude – emotionally aloof, physical attractions only please. This movie twists it around and makes it the women's attitude, with the “ringleader” being Christina Walters (Cameron Diaz). Love will find a way through the toughest of exteriors though, and even Christina's image as a ball-breaker eventually cracks when she meets Mr Right.

The theme is not the only thing this movie has “borrowed”. It is decidedly unoriginal, almost purposefully so. It borrows quite a few ideas from Diaz's most successful movie, “There's Something About Mary”, as well as some from “When Harry Met Sally”. There's also a “fashion montage” that you will either find hilarious or painful, where the girls try on different outfits, ripping off the same scene in countless other movies. The film relies too much on slapstick humour for my liking and everyone keeps breaking into song (even dirty songs), which left me cold. But it does have its funny moments. Sometimes it tries too hard to be funny and you end up cringing rather than laughing. But the moments of humour that do work well will have you laughing out loud and it is these moments that make the film worth watching (apart from Cameron Diaz's magnificent smile). It is a fun film that you won't regret seeing. But it is nothing like the fresh, vibrant humour of “There's Something About Mary”, with which comparisons are impossible to avoid.
